Parade Rules & Liability Waiver

Liability Waiver(Required)
“The Santa Clause” There is only one Santa, and he rides on a boat at the end of the parade! It is confusing to small children to see more than one Santa and Mrs. Claus riding on floats; therefore, no one may dress as Santa on your float or in your vehicle.

Parade Rules

1. All entries must be decorated in holiday-inspired decorations. Music is encouraged. Creativity is awarded.

2. All participants must be in their lineup position with their parade number visible on the dash of vehicle by 10:30 a.m. or you will not be permitted in the parade.

3. Only one float or vehicle per entry is allowed.

4. NO CANDY, TRINKETS OR OTHER ITEMS ARE TO BE THROWN OR HANDED OUT FROM VEHICLES AT ANY TIME. Giveaways may be handed out by those walking alongside float/vehicle only. (Throwing items is a violation of City Ordinance and is a safety concern.)

5. Riders on floats cannot get on and off the float during the parade at any time.

6. All entries with children must have adults riding/walking with them throughout the entire event.

7. Walkers alongside vehicles must walk at least 10 feet from the side of the vehicle.

8. Use of fire or open flames is not allowed.

9. Any firearms, real or replicas, must get approval in advance.

10. ALL wheels of motorized vehicles MUST keep in contact with the ground at all times. Anyone doing wheelies will be pulled from the parade immediately.

11. All motorized vehicles must carry liability insurance and be operated by a driver with a valid driver’s license.

12. No one will be allowed to ride on the hood or roof of any vehicle.

13. No entry fee refunds will be given for no shows or disqualified entries. There will be a $30 service charge on all returned checks.

Entries must observe all applicable laws, ordinances and regulations and follow all instructions from police and parade officials. Police and parade officials reserve the right to remove any entrant from the parade, either prior to assembly, at assembly or at any time during the parade if the entrant fails to follow parade rules or does not display standards of reasonable public taste as determined by staff.

In consideration of your accepting my entry, I hereby, for myself, my child and all participants of my entry, my heirs, executors and administrators, waiver and release all rights and claims for damages I, my child or entry participants may have against the City of Georgetown, the Georgetown Business Association and its representatives, successors and assigns for any and all injuries suffered by myself or my child or entry participants at any activity sponsored by these groups. I have read in its entirety the general rules and the entry guidelines for participating in the Georgetown Christmas Parade and agree to accept full responsibility for the compliance of this entry and all participants associated therewith, and for any liability inherent with this entry’s participation in the Georgetown Christmas Parade.

I understand that if I fail to comply with all the guidelines and rules for participation, my entry will be removed from the parade lineup.
